if he hadn't had a dreadful early 2012 he possibly would have got olympic gold and a couple of tdf stage victories. class cyclist.0

Might be reflected by Wiggo not accepting his win in the Olympic tt until he saw it confirmed!0

There are a load of birds in the Antarctic that aren't buying in to what you say Rapper.
TM is No1. It is a shame he had so many punctures and injuries throughout the TdF and Olympic period (I PTP'd him for the TT's in the TdF).
It would be good to see a TM and Wiggo showdown in a TT next year where they are both up for it and mechanical/injury free.0 -
According to CQ, historically, it's 16-12 to Wiggo in ITTs head-to-head which surprised me - I was expecting it to be fairly clearly in favour of Martin.0

Wiggo and TM both win TT's. Wiggo wins more TT's than TM, Wiggo wins TdF.
Ehr, who is no. 1?0 -

One point that needs to be made is that during stage races, it isn't always the best TT rider who wins the TT stages, as there are issues of recovery, saving for other stages. 'One day TTs' like the Olympics, World Champs, etc, show who the best TT riders are. Recovery plays such a big part in the stage race TTs, and isn't the whole picture; but this is the case for road races too.0

In stage races a TT specialist will often target the TTs for stage wins (and save himself accordingly) while a good TTer with GC ambitions will not have that same luxury.0 -
In my own mind, I'm no.1 too.
Some people just see me as a fat, sweaty, lazy cyclist tho!0 -

Quite.
First Tour TT was 9 days in. Final one was after a good 3 weeks of racing.
Same with most of the final TTs in the stage races.0 -
Wiggins this year has TTed better than anyone since the dark ages. Last year Martin was better.0
