Hi i just bought a orange ms isle it is a single speed bike but i want to change it so it has gears. Can anyone point me in the direction of some reasonably priced kits and how many gears should i go for if i want to do xc? Thanks.

That is an awful bike for XC to be honest.
Merlin do complete groupsets at good prices.0 -

Assuming its got the drop outs for a rear mech to convert it back to geared, you should be able to do it - you'll need a rear mech, shifter pod (which will usually come with a cable), some outer for the ccable, a cassette and a new chain. That'd give you a 9 speed set up but you may also want to add the front mech - either way Chainreactioncycles or Merlin are the usual suspects - could also try one of the german outlets but I have nto used them.
Deore kit will probably run you to 120 quid maybe for a 27 speed set up at a guess.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
Deore 9 speed should be fine, it's cheap and functional. Not the best bike for XC, but they look cool.0
