I went to the last cycle show in London and tbh thought it was a bit of a waste of time. I am in the market for a new bike and see Ribble and Rose are going to be there (also would like sight of the Venge Comp). I live in the SE so its a fair trek up to the NEC. Whos going and do you think the show will be worth visiting? London had no freebees and the deals with suppliers or retailers were non existant from memory.

Typically a lot to buy (There was last year anyway) and some good deals to be made with manufacturers. You can also test Roses bikes on the circuit, which you typically wouldn't be able to do in Britain. Also, the mountain bike track was extremely fun, even for a roady!!

Dont recall being able to buy anything at london other than in one shop where all the stuff was overpriced.
  • I managed to get a go pro from Madison at the london bike show, but you did have to look carefully.

I live on the south coast and always went to the bike show at the NEC (very easy to get to as birmingham international train station is at the NEC). The show at the NEC is huge compared to the london one I went to this year (which I felt was a bit spoiled by sharing the show with boats and outdoor shows) and I've always brought back a few bargains. As with all shows though, get a rough idea of the average price for any items you want so you know what's a bargain and what isn't.

Good advice, I was looking at booking tickets for the London one in 2013 but now you mention the NEC one is even bigger than maybe worth a look? Just have to factor in the train ticket cost!
