Garmin Advice

I'm trying to promote cycling at a sports fair tomorrow and am hoping to setup a bike on a turbo trainer to let people compete over 500m times (like rollapaluza).
Does anyone know how to get readings for distance and speed on a garmin (edge 800) on an indoor trainer??
These fields both stay blank whenever I try.
I have tried switching GPS off
I have noticed that my garmin might not be picking up the speed/cadence sensor but I don't know how to fix this.
Many Thanks

  • Go into the settings and re-pair the sensor unit.

Assume you have a speed / cadence sensor - if so as said above go into settings, turn off GPS and re scan for the spd/cdnc sensor under bike settings.
Could the battery in the sensor have died?

They won't activate sometimes unless you press the start button, but agree, pair the device again.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
