How do you guys clean up your wheels?

I've been using a silver cleaner that looks like pink cotton wool.
I was thinking about getting a lambs wool buffer to put in a drill to bring the wheels to a shine.
Just wondered if it would be ok and what do others do?

Cheers

  • Turn bike up side down, pedal for the rear, drag old towel on either side and then pul towel through the spoke gaps like drying your crack when you're just out of the shower. Front just spin rather than pedal

This. Why on earth would you go to all the effort of polishing them when they're only going to get muddy the next time you ride?

Rinse with a hose and wipe, as above they'll get dirty next time out anyway.

  • I am just about to strip down and clean my DH bike as the summer season is over, which means I am going to clean the wheels for the first time since June. I plan to run a wet sponge over them and then wipe with an old towel.

I was going to employ a 100 indian maidens to gently polish them to a high shine with finest silk but minimum wage is a killer in BC.

I usually give the rims a quick wipe with a rag whenever I clean the bike, just to keep it looking nice. Nothing more than that though.

Could hurt the stickers though. If he's polishing the wheels, don't think he'll want them peeling off. Assuming there are some.

Course, depends on the type of pressure washer. Ones most of us have in garage would prob be fine.
