Sora shifters on a double
I bought a Vitus Razor that comes with a Sora groupset. It has a double at the front. But it feels like the shifter for the crank gears (sorry, I am new to this!) is meant for a triple. I was on my second ride and the shifter suddenly didn't want to shift down. The cable was very taught. Went to bike shop and the sorted it out. But it now take two clicks to shift down just the one cog. It also feels quite stiff. Shall I take it to my LBS and get them to adjust it?

it could be the trim mechanism - subtle little pushes and pulls help eliminate chain rub.The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

The left/chainring SORA shifter actually has 4 positions - 1 each for small and large chainrings, and another couple of positions close to the first two, which allow for trimming when you are using small-small and large-large combintations.
Hence if you are in the "largest" or most outwards position, the first click willl move the shifter only slightly inwards which is a trim position (for use when on the larger rear sprockets). Another click will dump the chain onto the small chainring and put the derraileur fully inwards.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Excellent description. Thanks a lot. Think I will have a search for a manual or guide on adjusting it myself! Thanks again!0 -

Ahhhh, this explains lot. I though I was going insane when trying to set up a front dérailleur recently!0
