Houses of parliament strike a deal with Easyjet to provide MP's with cheap air travel to reduce expences.

How much do MP's get paid?

And do the rest of us still have to pay full price for Easyjet flights, while the MP's get them at a discounted rate?

Wouldn't suprise me if "Joe public" gets a price hike to meet any shortfall, however small/large it may be.

  • What's the problem? Would you rather they flew business class with BA everywhere at a more expensive rate?

This. True that MPs deserve a lot of the opprobrium heaped on them, but this looks like a step in the right direction - really quite petty to try and use it as another stick to beat them with.

Read the heading of the post.

Didn't say I had a problem with it.

Plus, from easy jet's business point of view, they can afford to do a deal if guaranteed the custom of "x" number of flights over "y" period of time.

Now, if they could only strike up a similar deal with Fortnum and Mason for Pheasant and Armagnac Pate, we could really make some in roads . . .

If you are paying yourself for flights as part of your job then you are being very silly. I claim for legitmately incurred work expenses and I'd expect MPs to as well. Cheaper flights = smaller bills to the taxman.
