Garmin Edge 500 Recording Rate

I've noticed the plots from my Edge 500 are pretty rubbish at times cutting the corners off my ride. I was thinking of changing the settings to use second recording. I realise this will reduce the amount of time the device can record but by how much?
Also, does anyone else use second recording and is it worth it?

I didn't realise you could do that. Where did you find that option mate?0 -
Take the total number of data points on your route and work out the average time between them (6sec to about 15 sec in my experience). Then you can work out how many more points there will be if its 1 per second recording. You probably won't get close to filling the Garmin.
No, I don't use as its pointless IMO, if the best GPS accuracy of 20 feet you can get makes 1s recording no more accurate. Use the 1s when you;re doing track work - thats why it was created.
But I am sure others will have differing views.0 -
Cant remember exactly off the top of my head - it's in the settings menu somewhere, maybe under GPS.0

I think the 500 has quite a big memory so shouldn't be a prob. Did this on my 405 running watch and still ok for a half marathon. I think 5s is the default if I remember. Let us know how it goes0

The default is 'auto' which means the slower you go, the more frequent it takes data points it takes to keep accuracy.
Well, it is on the 205/305/705 anyway.0 -
I have always used per second data recording, and have never had any memory issues, even on rides up to 150k.
This is on both my old 705 and current 500, hope this helps0
