Whats the most common bike you see out?

I know they are probably a decent bike but my god do I get sick of seeing the Specialized Allez on my travels!

And despite great reviews, I've never seen a Triban 3 in the flesh.

  • Boardman.. Every single ride without fail I look down and see one... Been over a year since I've been out for a ride without seeing one!
  • interesting choice of words, one man's 'common' is another's 'popular' - maybe for good reasons?

  • Here we go out come the Trek basshers ;)

I'll be honest i don't see that many bikes when I'm out dunno why, may be its because it's sh1t where I live for biking and I stay pretty local when cycling,

But I have seen a few boardmans about when I'm driving also saw a nice black bike today don't know what brand but it had red handlebars and SRAM wheels

  • Mostly bikes with 2 wheels here. TBH I don't really look too much at what people are riding, possibly I need to stop at more cafe's on a ride.
  • I reckon Specializeds and Boardmans around here.
  • ....... ones which are faster than me :)
  • I have to say this morning was Bianchi morning round here, I was out on mine and my two friends I was riding with were both on theirs and we saw another 5 different guys riding Bianchi's on our ride!

Other than that no real common brands round here.
    :D

Fantastic bikes, although a little underspecced for the price. I have one so slight bias 8)

(I realise that the 2013 bikes have the new SORA)

Ribble or planet x round my way. Probably because they are good value.

Boardman by far and then specialized as far as the bike shed at our work goes....

I've seen a triban 3 in the flesh and I was most impressed, if you aren't hung up about sora then it's a steal. the wheels look like fulcrum copies judging by the hub design and nice touches like 31.8mm bars etc. the only thing you would potentially change is the cheap triple chainset and some decent tyres once you kill the first ones

My daughter has a base model Allez 16 which she's just upgraded with a pair of RS80 C24 wheels (which were on sale) she worked pretty much every weekend this summer to save the money for them and she's quick, I'm starting to struggle keeping up with her although she's 17 and I'm 54 so maybe I should accept the inevitable with good grace :(

Most popular in the club are Planet X and Ribble.

Generally I reckon Spech and Giant are the 2 most seen when out and about.

Cheap MTBSO with saddle way too low ridden at 7mph on the pavement.
  • Anything you can buy in Evans I would say. Living in London, Evans are pretty much becoming the McD's of cycling, one on every corner it seems like.

Boardmans for Road Bikes and Specialised Sirrus (the cheaper models) for Hybrids.

I was seriously thinking about a Boardman cross bike for Winter use - but I have seen so many try-hards on Boardmans lately that it is kind of putting me off the brand despite it being a good bike and well made for the money.
  • Cube MTB's and Trek road bikes... mainly down to the shops who do the cycle to work scheme around here.
    It's been a while...

I bought a CX for winter/bad weather use and I've got over the image thing (or rather the Halfords 'thing') - it's a great bike, not exclusive maybe. Wouldn't impress some sections of the riding community but then I didn't buy it for that. It always attracts positive comments from non cycling people though. Don't see many around here, mostly a good spread of different makes of bikes.
  • I've just realised that although I live 20mins from CRC's depot, I've seen 0 Vitus bikes on the road.

(I have seen some parked up at sportives though)
  • Absoultely no idea, people pass me and I am too busy huffing and puffing, if they are coming the other way, I nod and keep an eye on the road. I have a bike that suits my budget, if I had 5k more, I would have a different bike.

So what; sounds like you're jealous.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

    Lots of BMCs around here.
  • Around my neck of the woods, by far and away I see 95% Specialized, a few Cannondales and a few Treks.

Never anything else, which is weird.

Boardman everywhere round here. Although when I was at work the other day (bus driver and waiting time before continuing journey) I was at Lowdham War Memorial which is a popular meeting spot for clubs and rides. Must have been 60 or so cyclists lingering around and you could have quite easily played a game of top trumps with the bike porn on display.
