I'm looking at buying some new tyres for the winter period.

I'm mainly limited to cross country riding at the moment, but once I purchase a car early next year I'll be riding alot of trails.

I've a budget of around £50 and have read so many reviews, but I just can't decide on what to go with.

I keep seeing recommendations for Kenda Nevegal stick-e, Kenda Nevegal DTC and Panaracer xc fire pro have good write ups.

I'm currently running on 2.1 kenda small block 8s.

Can anyone offer any good sound advice?

Thanks.

Bontrager XR4s Team editions from All Terrain Cycles. £45 the pair. Good weight, good volume, seem tough, working brilliantly for me in all but the driest conditions (and you have SB8s so thats not an issue).

Sorry to butt in, but how do they roll on tarmac? We've got a 5 mile each way trip on the road to our main cross country loop, so reasonable rolling resistance is a must. :)

Ok, if not great. I'd be more worried about wear rates actually I you have 10 miles on the road each way, the XR4 is soft. Try a schwalbe in pace star I reckon. Rocket Ron/hobby nic/Hans dampf depending on your preference.

If it gets muddy where you ride then Bontrager Mud-X (£45) are great... reasonably good at everything and very good in the mud. Wear on roads is OK. Not exactly fast on the road, mind you, but you can't have everything. I have not tried the XR4s so I can't compare them to the Mud-X.
