First Road Bike - Now Stolen!!!

Hi all,
Got this about 3 weeks ago now, just have not taken any pics until now. First road bike I have owned and love it. I will admit that the hype of British cycling sucsess recently has inspired me to get one, but have enjoyed mountain boing for a while before hand. Covered about 350+ miles on it and can't get enough. The only problem I seem to have is on the two longish runs I have done (45 miles each) I end up with a really bad back?
Apart from loosing my cycle computer already and hitting a very large pothole at 20mph + and making two rather annoying dents/bulges in both rims  all is good!...
Any how, hope too see a few of you around the new forest area!

Road bikes aren't the most comfortable for those of us with bad backs but a fitting may help at your LBS if you've not allready had one. As for the potholes, that is England unfortunately :-(0

Ahhh, another soul who has the seen the future.Welcome to club Cube.
I'm in a similar boat to you as I got my first road bike 2 weeks ago, and I'm loving it. I seemed to have got the last Peloton SL (58cm, compact) on planet earth but I'm reakky happy as the overall speed, responsiveness and acceleration compared to my old boardman hybrid is amazing. I've had a bit of back pain too, but used to get it on my previous bike so I'm not going to blame my new bit on the side (apologies to my girlfriend).
Two things: 1) How do you find being in the drops? 2) Are you having problems keeping your white bar tape clean? If so, use an all purpose household surface wipe and spray onto it a little Dettol style kitchen surface cleaner after every couple of rides. It does the trick.Reporter: "What's your prediction for the fight?"
Clubber Lang: "Prediction?"
Reporter: "Yes. Prediction"
Clubber Lang: "....Pain!!!"0 -
I have not had a fitting by a bike shop, my friend has given me most the advice so far, as he is a bike nut! I didn't know if it was anything to do with posture.
And for some reason I spend most of my time in the drops, find it comfortable for my arms. And to be honest not bothered about the bar tapes, I like a bike that looks used.2009 Cube Ltd Comp - Stolen

Well what a fine end to my weekend! This bike and my mountain bike have been stolen from the bike shed where I Live!
If anyone happens to see any cube bikes for sale like this around Hampshire that look the same please let me know!
The road bike also had 2 new carbon fibre bontrager cages fitted, a small saddle bag and a rear light! Oh and a pump.

Very sorry to hear that.
Contact the Police asap. I had my shed broken into and my MTB was taken a 2006 Trek 8500, not a new bike but still a nice bike none the less, but my road bike left luckily, which is far more precious and expensive.
I'm convinced it was someone local who has seen me on the MTB and had taken a fancy to it, so it's probably the same situation with you, rather than an opportunist.
Keep your eyes peeled at bikes about and you never know.0 -
I also think it is someone that has seen me on it near where I live. The place I live is very quiet, but my bikes are the only two that have been stolen from the shed of about 15 bikes!
It had 3 padlocks and 3 chains attached, they actually unbolted the the mount from the wall and took all of it!
What's worse is I don't think I stipulated 'push bikes' on my insurance!2009 Cube Ltd Comp - Stolen

That absoutely sucks mate sorry for you. I keep all my stuff in the house dont leave anything outside, although not too bad here at the moment. Keep your eyes open you never know but lets be honest they wont be ridign it or selling it local unless they really are that stupid. Before you try to claim read your policy thorough, if there is a get out they will use it so think before you report it as to what exactly happend0
