Just wondering if anyone on the forums has used just mountain bikes.co.uk? I looking at a bike on their site that is a lot cheaper than the competition .

  • Does it look genuine? What does google tell you about the company? Is it too cheap to be true or is it realistic?

Id say its likely real, hence the odd selection. I can imagine they've just set up and got whatever brands they can in - mainly ones that will sell themselves to anyone (GT/Haro etc.).

Id buy on a credit card, and expect that set up is likely to be less than perfection, but otherwise, I think I would risk it if I wanted a Ghost.

Ring them up, ask some questions. It looks OK to me, but I would be a little sceptical.
  • Site says you can pay by paypal. That'd be my choice personally.

Both companys are registered to the same person, looks like they started out as web design in company 2003 and decided to move into mountain bikes in 2009, looks legit to me.
  • The News and Articles sections has enough back ground info and news to suggest they are legit to me - they are also part of cycle 2 work which I'd suggest makes them a legit shop (I guess you can just put that on your site) but I'd give it a go if they have something you want.

You could try calling them (they list phoen numbers and store hours)

  • Thanks for all the feedback. Hmmmmmmm not sure what to think now, i guess i was hoping for someone to say yep i used them and they were great. The bike i was looking at was a ghost amr 7500,£1600. Best rival price i can see is £1840 on crc. Thanks again.
  • Mud on the tyres on the bike at the front might be because they let you test ride the bikes.

They do replairs judging by the not new bike on the stand, maybe the muddybike is in for repair.....

But then where is the 'shop'?

Of course if they are only selling online then no nee for a shop like that, or maybe the real shop has a completley unrelated name?

    Uit 3A you say?

The workshop picture up above looks iffy to me, but could equally be somebody starting out.

The background company of idealsites looks legit, but I'd want to visit and make sure first - if not paying by a protected means.

Hello everyone, well I can guarantee they are 100% legit!

As I'm Adam Downey LOL :o:D

Yes we started out about a year ago (website is older actually as I set it up as web only venture initially going through another now closed snowboard shop, which is the premises I took over) on a limited budget and the pics were taken back then as we were still getting set up (tool chest and workbench is not even in place for this pic and the white bike is my old demo bike, so I should update it!).

I'm 28 and started as a web developer, to selling other products online myself and now funding this, and it is not easy when competing against such well established giants as many bike brands are out of reach with them asking for unrealistic initial stocking orders to show commitment, if they are interested at all with other dealers being too nearby etc... (BTW you can't sell only online, you need a shop)

However a new site is in the making with the new Ghost range and now Orange! We have Hope & Nukeproof bits and are indeed part of both cycle schemes.

We have to stick to RRPs generally, but since a week or so ago the distributor dropped prices considerably to make way for 2013 and we simply did the deals and have sold more top spec Ghost bikes in the last week than in the last few months I think!

Makes up for some of the dead weeks and gives a much needed boost in moving things forward and delivering more of what like minded enthusiasts want!

(Moderators, I didn't come on here today to self promote in any way, just put the record straight!). I thought there must have been some talk on the forum with these 2012 bargains, good job I googled!

I hope I have put some minds at rest.

(As someone mentioned, a credit card does provide extra protection. Costs us more though :()

Thanks Adam, by the way you seem to have a problem with your keyboard, every time you press for a fullstop you get an exclamation mark......

  • Hi Adam, thanks for coming on and clearing that up. I've retracted my previous comments as I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea.

Best of luck with the shop.
