It's not often I wear them but a dress down day at work today made me realize how bloody uncomfortable they are around the man area, more to the point the nads.

What alternatives do you guys wear? I have joggers addididdy ones but for the usual laze in the house kind of stuff, step out the front door and chav is stamped on to you!

Just wish non boxer Lycra was in fasion! - so comfortable!

  • If it's dress down at the office, then a nice tweed suit looks good. With trilby and pipe.
Oh, and the trousers must be pressed. Look, it's not DIFFICULT, OK!

  • it did cross my mind, however dressed that for work on a normal day the suspense died years ago  yes the trousers are pressed! :D

Simply put, you are wearing bad jeans.

Fashion jeans suck - try a pair of Blue Guru or similar and report back.

Having said that, even they have the stupid low-slung wallet pocket that makes driving a car with your wallet in place uncomfortable.

Sod it. Just wear Ralph Lauren chinos - the only way to go on business dress-down days. I must have ten pairs of them.
FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
CAADX 105 beastie for bumpy bits
    Litespeed L3 for Strava bits

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
  • chinos have crossed my mind, I thought though that they were going to be like jeans, fair play being built like a rake none of them fit too well... suppose that's a plus on the cycling!
  • yep, the " dressed down Rodney" can work. Think army officer. Chinos, or cords if you're feeling brave, are good.
Bold colours eg pink pants and normal shirts are good. And if you have a pair of Chelsea boots, all the better.
    Black Labrador is extra.

  • I don't wear jeans any more.

On dress down day I wear these:

At the weekend I wear these:

  • Jeans that fit, chinos but my favourite dress down day attire is taking the day off.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Whilst I favour the "resting Rupert" look, espoused by BBG & exemplified by Rick C's red trouseriness, if you must wear jeans, perhaps raise your game (& budget)?

  • £££ eh? but thanks for the advice, there's similar types available at H&M apparently, see what happens!

Gah! I'd meant to put their jeans as a link in my post- http://swrve.co.uk/jeans.html - rather than doubling up on rapha. Alpkit did a run of jeans that had a DWR treatment and panelling that avoided a central seam & the discomfort that can bring.

  • do seem to have to shop about, I've never fitted skinny jeans, and do need a fairly long leg. so I tend to up size jeans and use a belt, so I can get them over my calfs for starters!

only way i've found is to keep trying until you find the one!

Jeans are more or less out of fashion anyway, at least, in normal colours they are.

Don't like the cut and the fabric creases too easily.

Them's the bunnies! Don't look too good, and I guess that's a PR shot. Will have to make a trip to Condor & try the swrves.
Been quite keen on the Cordarounds/Betabrand's bike to work pants, but cost of shipping from SF diminishes the appeal.

  • Dockers 'Alpha' Khaki range is good. Comfy, smart enough for work (well my work at least), not overly expensive and come in many different colours.

The man in the red trousers...
  • they look quite nice actually, i guess I'm not the only one with thin calves & waist line then!
  • I can highly recommend Hiut Denim http://hiutdenim.co.uk/ made in the UK. A bit pricey but look good, great fit and a strong Jean. Plus you don't get to wash them for 6 months as they are Raw denim, bonus!

Made by the original founders of Howies in Cardigan..

    FCN 4 sometimes
