Basalt Braking Surface???

Looking at buying some carbon wheels that have the option of basalt braking surface. Whats the difference and pro's and con's of basalt over standard carbon surface?

Anyone had experience of both who can give an honest comparison?

Doesn't basalt make the wheels a bit heavy?

It will be basalt fibres added into the carbon fibre. These add strength and durability. Canyon make use of it in their seatposts.

However I have no idea how it will affect the braking performance.
