Important Jacket Question

Right.

Jacket potatoes

Cheese and beans being the food of Gods, and being the only true filling for jacket spuds: which do you put on top? the cheese or the beans?

Do you put the beans on first then cover them in a loving blanket yellow loveliness. Or do you drown your cheese with the beans of doom?

Are you culinary angel or a blaspheming heathen?

(now THIS is a proper Friday afternoon topic!)

  • I literally shake with rage whenever I see cheese submerged by beans.
  • Cheese on the top.

But, you could always split the cheese and have a layer below, to coat the fluffy jackety goodness of the potato and adorn the beans with a healthy helping of cheese as well? Or is that just ridiculous?!

Beans can only ever be below cheese and never above them.

    I think its even law.

It should go jacket, butter, beans, cheese and then more Cheese.

Cheese on top, but no matter what the filling, the potato needs to be primed with a generous nob of butter first.

Totally agree. Cheese must go on top.

Are you insane? Seriously, do they trust you with sharp implements?

The Skin is the best part -

Rub skin with olive oil, Salt and pepper. Wrap in foil. Cook until is ready.

then see above for the beans/cheese recipe

Chilli and cheese. with the cheese underneath the chilli.

If the cheese is on top it forms a skin and goes cool whilst trapping the magma-like heat of the potato and chilli.

Chese underneath means it melts and stays melted, and the whole thing cools down a bit more evenly.

prefer mine with chile or spicy savoury mince
  • Plenty of rock salt on the skin and OFC you eat it!!! Jeezus!
  • Fromage under legumes otherwise it doesn't melt very well
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?
  • I've reported the people who said cheese underneath to the Mods. I hope you're banned.

put the whole lot in a blender pour in to a water bottle and take it on your ride and of course the cheese floats to the top perfect

Cheese (grated or otherwise) on a jacket potato........... there is a better way........ try this

    Bake potato as normal
When just about ready - remove from oven, cut in half, scoop out flesh into bowl and return skins to oven.
Add grated cheese to potato flesh and mix/mash until creamy - (BTW u can add some mustard, grated onion etc)
Retrieve skins from oven (now really crisp) scoop spoonfuls of the bowl mix back into the skins.
Return to oven on baking tray for 15-20 mins (sprinkled with more cheese if u like - parmesan anyone?).

Remove from oven and devour with baked beans if you must but HP sauce is essential (IMHO).

Takes a bit longer but the experience is way superior.

PS - I claim no credit for the recipe - SWMBO produces it as a family snack called "cheese boats"
