Choices choices - Advice Please...

Hello,

I am looking at picking up a new road bike in the sales, whilst the stock is still there.
I have been hunting around the web for a while and whittled my choices down to 2 bikes:

Cannondale Super Six 105 and BMC Road Racer SL01 105.

I've seen both for the same price (around 1700 GBP), so there is no difference in the cost.

I am looking at using my bike initially for weekend use, and then maybe low level racing.

Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. I spoke to a guy in my LBS but all I got was the major difference was that American bikes tend to be a bit larger framed than European bikes.

Ther group sets are the same, from what I can find on the web the geo is pretty similar (I'm looking at a 54 cm frame in both).

They both get pretty good reviews, so I'm interested to know general public opinion!

Thanks guys...

Have you ridden either bike? That would my deciding factor. And no, no-one who works in an LBS is going to be able to tell you which is better either ....

£1700 on a bike for low level racing? WOW
Almost as good as the guy spending £3500 on a commuter

Both are decent bikes, go for the one with the better wheels and you like the look of if you cannot test ride. Make sure its a good fit.

  • Thanks for your replies.

@ Giant man - Nope, not yet, but I hope to this weekend.

@ ShutUpLegs - Pardon my ignorance but I do not really understand what you are getting at - 1700 quid is more than enough for a racing bike for racing? You see, I'm that ignorant that sarcasm is wasted on me for the time being anyway. Thanks I guess though.

@ Gabriel959 - Cheers for the links. I'll have a look. If that's what I decide to go for, I definitely won't be paying 350 over the odds now.
