Sticky hoods

Is it just me? Or a combination of my toxic exudations and Shimano's rubber compounds? If I ride with bare hands the hoods on my brifters (fnurk) get all sticky.

I thought I'd cracked it by giving them a wipe with silicone oil - but after a week or so we're back to a horrible, almost gynacological stickiness where bare hand meets hood.

Just me? Magic bullet solutions?

    Wear gloves.

    +1
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

You know how weight lifters dip their hands in that chalky stuff, and dance about a bit, and grunt.
Try that. (you could use baby powder)
It probably won't work, but it will give your neighbours a laugh.

Shouldn't ride in the rain anyway; all the carbon bits on your bike will dissolve...
    Pannier, 120rpm.
  • there is nothing for it now, you have upset the hoodies, you now need to do the following, on the next full moon, you have to dress like a turkey and stand in the middle of embankment hopping on your left leg 12 times and then your right 15 times and then both 5 times whilst croaking hoodies rule 20 times
Sorry its not me it's the bike ;o)

    This.

Or get a good degreaser (Motorex's is ace) and give the hoods a good clean. I run white hoods on one of my bikes and they get v grubby, so black hoods will be hiding a multitude of sins.

    Srsly though, why no gloves?

Srsly though, almost always gloves (well mitts anyway) but just now and then you jump on a bike to shoot to the shop or something and just notice that the hoods feel sort of 'tacky'.

I'm actually now wondering if it's intentional - some sort of slight hydrophilic effect to stop sweaty hands sliding off?
