Preview here of the stuff they'll be flogging in a couple of weeks -

Although the compression underwear regularly surfaces in all their sports related promotions!

I have quite bit of Aldi gear for commuting or riding when I know I'm going to get sh1tted up and don't want to ruin some of my posh stuff. Also got some fantastic arm and leg warmers that cost about £5 a pair back in the spring.

Worth a look anyway.

  • Cheers for the heads up, looks like I.m going on a budget spending spree!
Out of interest, does anyone have any "avoid x, you're better off spoending a bit more" type advice on these? I'm not wanting a repeat of my current water / wind resistant jacket, that resists neither drizzle nor wind =)

Thanks for posting this, I'll have to get there early.

I've read that the gloves aren't that good, and also the foot pumps if they're doing them still.

  • Theyre currently building my local Aldi, but sadly I dont think its gonna be finished in time for this promotion :(
  • I bought a pair of gloves as a second spare pair. They don't have a big padded area on the heel of the palm like my others but they do have smaller grippy gel bits all over them. Cost about £3 so not bad.
Mrs BBGeek bought a shell jacket which she is very pleased with. Nice and warm, good quality. They had run out in my size
The MTB shoes are pretty good. I use mine for commuting and general riding. Cost about £15 which I think is excellent value.
    Get there early!

I'll second that - the last lot of gloves they had weren't as good as previous incarnations. I bought some with those 'pull-off' loops on the fingers, and they just gave way at the slightest yank. The previous ones didn't have that loop, and we all the better for it.

I also bought one of their track pumps, and it developed a fault pretty early on, the air was escaping from somewhere which meant that it wasn't going into the tubes.

Saying that, I'll always trawl the stuff when it's in, as we have an Aldi nearby. The compression stuff is very good, especially for the price.

Winter gloves are rubbish. I just ended up with extremely sweaty hands! Fingerless ones are ok for light use. I use mine for when I'm on my shopper/hybrid but not for proper rides.

The lights are ok but the mounting for the front light snaps easily. I use it as a normal torch now and its pretty good for the money.

Softshell jacket is very good. Still got mine from 2 years ago - excellent in winter!

bought a set of short finger gloves from the last event and tbh they are crap but for £3 i didn't mind. The floor pump I bought at the start of the year has had regular use and is still going strong.

The short finger gloves I have are fine but they might be the Lidl ones. Good enough that I never seem to get round to buying proper ones for the weekend.

The road shoes are excellent - 7000 odd miles and still look almost new. A slight intermittent squeak in one is the only fault. By contrast my Northwave Vertigos look shabby after 2000 miles (though functionally faultless)

C'mon guys, this is Aldi - not Evans!
