Off to Brecon in a couple of weeks and wondered if anyone has any tyre recommendations for my Whyte 146. Choice seems completely baffling on interweb . . . :?

Something with a bit of volume to avoid pinch flats but pretty much anything.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Ive been using Kenda Nevegal Stick-E tyres in the peaks and had no issues.
I think people get really hung up about tyres. I just use what was fitted to the bike when I got it, and when they need replacing, see what offers are on.
I have 2 Panaracer Fire XC Pro's sitting waiting to be fitted only because I got them for £40 in CRC sale :twisted:0 -
Are you seriously going to buy two new tyres for a trip to one specific place? Whatever tyres you currently use will work unless they are slicks.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

Cheers for responses, I have panaracer fire xc pros on at moment but they are about worn out and even though everyone seems to rave about them, I have not been that impressed (sorry rapid donkey). Less grip than Maxxis, don't clear mud as well as continentals, but on plus side, less punctures than either of the above.
The consensus seems to be get some black rubbery round ones with some air in, possibly fat with strong sidewalls - which is excellent advice i think, so thanks for that.
Maxxis again or Bontragers or Kenda depending on available deals . . .0 -
Action bikes. £45 for the bontys delivered. Trust me, they are the nuts. You'll not be disappointed. 2.35 would be my preference.A Flock of Birds

Don't buy Kenda Nevagals. I have had the standard ones and the Stick-E version and they are both useless in any mud. I have also had Bontrager XR4's and they are excellent, the 2.2" version is pretty big so forget anything bigger.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Variable conditions there (as most places I guess), currently lots of dry trails interspersed with the odd boggy bit. I did plenty of miles there last weekend with a Hans Dampf trailstar on the front and a half-worn Crossmark on the rear. The HD was great (grippy and predictable), the Crossmark was a bit pants but then I prefer the back to lose traction first. Would probably use an Advantage there on the rear next time or maybe a HD pacestar. There are also lots of thorns about I found, was fine with tubeless but person I was cycling with on tubes had a few punctures (I pulled 5 thorns from mine in 3 days)0
