Hi guys,

Looking to buy a good bike rack for 2 MTBs for my car - Vauxhall Astra CDTi hatchback

Preferably a "high" rack as don't want to spend more on a plate board etc.

Don't want one for the roof rack.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a budget of £100?

Many thanks!

Saris are very good. Winstanleys have the Bones 2 for £99.99... Just in budget!

I was going to suggest Saris as well, got a Bones 3 and it's one of the better racks I've used.

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies - it looks good.

However, having seen the photos, I'm concerned it may inhibit my number plate?

I have a hatch, so the number plate sits "within" the rear bumper so hope it's ok?

    It'll fit fine, see here; http://www.saris.com/en/bike-racks/vehi ... -bike.html

It'll sit below your number plate, resting on your rear bumper......it'll need to be adjusted to suit the angle of the back of your car, but the bottom bit will stay in this same position.

Not sure which version of the Saris I tried out but the arms were obscuring the number plate and with the bikes on they were obscuring the lights no matter how much I fiddled around with it.

So if you are trying to avoid paying for lighting board I would suggest to try before you buy.

The great thing is that you can rotate the arms on the central tube to lift the bikes clear of tailights and number plates.

    Something to consider, thank you.

I guess it depends on your car type of course.
