Hi all. I'm doing the st Crispin night ride next month - 100 miles starting at midnight. I haven't done any cold weather cycling in 20 years so I'm buying new winter kit.
Thermal jacket and bib tights are easy....but how about my head? In particular my ears....I hate my ears getting too cold. any suggestions?
Thanks
Rob

A skull cap, maybe? Worn underneath your helmet and pulled down over your ears. IMO, an essential piece of kit for Winter months.

Bandana. Buff. Skullcap. Thermal headband. Take your pick.0

I always found a head band was essential when riding to work in the winter, found anything fully over my head got a bit hot, got a DHB head band somewhere, may have to dig it out soon0

you need a GOOD skull cap, and not just one that rides up above your ears during your ride.
Assos Stinger is the best one I have ever used, on offer at various places at the moment. Plenty of extra material to fold up and lovely and warm. The Ground Effect (NZ) Baked Beanie is also good, although for me (57cm head) a little tight, as are some others because they're almost offered in only one size.0 -
Even in the depths of winter I just wear a buff over my ears / under the helmet. Anything thicker and my head overheats.
I do still have hair if that's a factor for you.0
