They all appear to be scared of riding on the road unless they are crossing it on a red light.

  • Selective editing. Midday when most commuters are at work . Loads of kids on BMXs and people on BSOs.
I could make a similar film in every big city in the UK.

However, it is these twats that give every other cyclist a bad name.
(Like the twat in his full HTC gear last night, cutting up traffic during rush hour :x )
    2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)
2012 Cube Ltd SL (the hardtail XC 26er)
    2014 Lapierre Zesty TR 329 (the full-sus 29er)

    as said above

also that junction on market street, really no cyclist should use it and no bikes are allowed to be walked through the shopping centre / travel centre (but if your getting off a train you can.... how does that work) and they made that bike lane on shiprow so you have to cycle that section in some way (stupid idea). Quite frankly it was better when it was that tiny roundabout (remember that)

maybe they should film haudagain roundabout as well, if they are lucky they will catch a cyclist going under the wheels of a lorry.....

after years commuting up there the main point is the roads are a shambles and there are too many w4nkers driving x5's like they on the road... (bitter because they are offshore again in 10 days.......)

and maybe head over to Torry / Sanderlands and confront those sorts of cyclists and see what happens.......... could make a good film
  • I was walking up the length of union street a few days ago, an older guy on a BSO just faster than walking pace bumbled his way through every red light. Sorry, take that back, he did stop at one, then cycled through the junction when the pedestrian crossing went. The peds had to move out of the way for him. Grrrrr......
I cycle in to work a few times a week, about 18 miles in total. The amount to times I get cut up by lycra clad guys, head down and not slowing for anything is shocking. I'm not the fastest rider out there, but a bit of respect and forward planning for fellow cyclists would not go amiss.

Years ago I used to commute from Dundee to Northern College, running the stretches from the stations - which after a while, once I'd worked out it was the quickest route, meant running through the Bon Accord shopping centre.
Nowadays I commute by bike, I'm just wondering about a strava segment through it?

Seriously, seems like a rather sad individual. Perhaps a chat with our Petronella would help.
  • Wasn't planning too!

    Any advice on the bike?!

    Thanks,
    Findlay
  • Wrong thread, sorry folks!
  • I commute 3-4 days a week from north of Aberdeen in my full Lycra gear up union street and the worst riders I see every day are the casually dressed riders. They never stop at any lights and ride to far away from the kerb. They are the people who give cyclists a bad name not the ones putting a bit of pace down and filtering. Providing the lights are green then my objective is to get my 18 miles commute done as quick as possible, I filter as quickly and safely as possible with the objective of getting ahead of busses and taxis before they try and run me over. Not all Lycra clad riders are a nusense.
  • That music is sooooo annoying!
