I am going to buy a magicshine MJ808E light for the impending dark evenings in the coming months.

I have heard a weak point is the mounting O rings, and that on bumpy rides it isnt very stable.
Someone on ebay is selling a mount which seems like a perfect solution, but at £15 its a bit steep!

Another option is to mount the light on my helmet, but I dont really know whether its best to mount it on handlebars or helmet as Ive never ridden with a light at night before.

Does anyone have any other ideas for a handlebar mounting solution other than the o rings, or does the £15 bracket seem like the best bet?

Cheers.

If you're creative and good with tools and your hands, one of these is all you need.

Make a hole in the recess after the screw to screw into the light body and cut the clip off on the end. Removing the clip clears the way for the cable to exit the light body better. I haven't bought the exact bracket as shown here but I have bought one with a Q/R with the same range of adjustment from 25.4 - 32mm bars.

The rubber rings aren't tight enough for off road riding. My first use of the lights was along a country lane and the headlight was bouncing too much for my liking.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

imho they are not actually that bad

I supplement mine with some of those red elastic bands that the Royal Mail leaving lying around in the street. Just loop them over the fins on the light and through the vents on your crash helmet or around the bars

    Total cost = £0
