Chucked it down today and I got soaked.

Recommend me some decent wet weather/winter gear for riding in.

Cheers.

You dont need waterproofs, Skin is waterproof. and anything that claims to be 100% waterproof will be like wearing a bin liner and you will sweat so much that you'll get wet on the inside.

What you need to do is make sure you get some thing that will keep you warm. Have a read through the following threads:

Plenty of info in there and you will find what you need and if not ask - the guys in commuting chat are a friendly bunch (watch out for DDD though - I hear he bites. )

  • I mostly agree with rubertoe however I picked up a Mavic H2O on sale in spring and it's been fantastic. It's made of paclite gore-tex and has vents on the chest and the sleeves for airflow.

If you like to ride flat out then yes it (and any other waterproof on the market) will probably be a bit much but at a moderate pace I've been pretty comfortable in it and it's kept my top half bone dry.

On the bottom I just have my shorts which get wet but stay warm and comfy anyway and overshoes.

A cycling cap helps keep the rain out of your eyes too.
