New Front Mech Help Please

Hi, retuning to MTB at the age of 40 (light off road use with the kids - but this is already getting a little more "hard core" lol with a little, non-comp, downhill with my friends) and need some help replacing the junk shimano alivio front mech which, firstly was useless, and is also now worn out. The rest of my kit is well maintained and I have no complaints - my skill/demands does not exceed it quality but I have no intention of face planting as I did as a kid (knocking front teeth out) due to rubbish front gear selection (it hurt!)
My top options at the moment seem to be a SRAM X9 of Shimano XT M771
My bike is a 2007 rockrider 6.3 (budget but I've still not found a better bike for any way near the same cash - £300 - newer 2010 version got much worse reviews) with stock set up at the moment:
6061 aluminium S.I.X. full suspension frame. Bearing-mounted steerer. 85mm travel.
Suntour XCT302 22 x 32 x42 chainset. SRAM SX5 27 speed shifters. Shimano Alivio front derailleur. SRAM SX5 rear derailleur. SRAM ESP 5.0 9 speed 11 x 32 cassette.
Rockrider XCR Lock Out 100mm fork by SR Suntour. APRO Toughstock FD spring/oil shock.
Here's a photo of the front mech:
Top mount, top pull needed, unsure of tube size (tell me how to measure it and I'll add that)
Changer is the stock sx5 which is in good condition and would like to keep if poss:
Budget: £60 max but ideally less
Location: Kent UK
Many thanks for your help and suggestions - Ben

To be honest, any mech above Alivio does not shift any better! They last longer, but don't shift any different.
I'd go for a Deore as are robust and have dual pull/multi band to make compatibilty easy. That said, I have just found this for the same price:

Thanks, that was exactly the one I was looking at! Just need a replacement that will last - TBH I think the original reason the Alivio wasn't changing correctly was initial poor set up from shop (didn't have a lot of confidence when the bike came "post set up" with the rear tyre on backwards lol) and that ruined it (forced shifting trying to get it in gear) and so now it can't be adjusted properly!
Only question I've got is that it says 44-48 tooth outer ring compatible, I've got 42, will it still be ok?
Thanks for your quick reply0 -
Yep, will be fine!0
