hi all, this has been my first year owning a road bike, bought a giant defy3 in april, done 4 triathlons using it and got my last one next weekend, then its train like mad for next season over autum/winter, ive managed to get a cheap raleigh chimera to use over the winter but rather than set it up the same as my normal bike i thought id ask if it should be set up for winter?? things like changing tyres from 700x23 to 700x25, tred rather than slick?? general things like that, hope this makes sense.

Tread only helps if you're not on tarmac - slicks work well in rain as bike tyres are too narrow to aquaplane. The only issue with slicks would be with snow and ice and then the solution is studded tyres.

Get mudguards and reflectives if you're going out in all conditions.
  • thanks for replys, il mess about with it today while ive got time, prob stick to normal pedals though incase a quick dismount is needed, ha
