I caught Boris's address at the Olymic parade this afternoon on a TV with the sound muted. I was struck at how much his mannerisms echoed those of Der Fuhrer. Just saying. :|

"Not only inspired a generation but also probably created a generation"

"You [Olympians] brought Judo back home..... I'm not going to get away with that one, am I?"

Better than any speech ever given by Seb Coe by a country mile.

If you've seen his "Who do you think you are?" programme, he is descended from King George - you know, the mad German?!?!

It was a cracking speech though :D

And you know this for a fact..... how?

Personally I've never met the man, so I'm not going to judge him until he does something calculating, unpleasant, right wing, or fails to produce a birth certificate.

Yadda yadda. That was the view at the time; BJ was making a wider point that does stand to some extent, that Scousers have or did have a reputation for always being the victim. Once Boris saw what a violent reaction his semi-jokey piece in his magazine had caused, he was straight up there on the next train to aplogise, as soon as his party leader ordered him to.

Regardless of that, it's well documented that educationally at Eton and Oxford Boris is academically gifted. The HIGNFY presenter and stuttering buffoon act is just that; it reflects his personality a bit but brain wise he's up there near the top.

You including Cameron in that then? Posh, owns most of Oxfordshire, went to posh schools to keep away from the riff raff etc. And today stood up in Parliament to apologise for the way governments have lied and hidden the truth about Hillsborough for 23 years? Cos he's an evil conniving Tory who hasn't got one ounce of decency in his body eh? Yeah right. Views, dislike, utter contempt even based on rationale are welcome. Shouting tory = villain is wasted k/b effort tbh.

    Buffoonery btw. :)

Since the days of Derek Hatton and his ridiculous mates onwards, there's been adequate opportunity to form this view. It doesn't have to be right but seeing it often enough over the years is enough for a media image to take hold, ably backed up by the scallies themselves being more than keen to pop up on tv at any opportunity moaning about anything & everything in that whiny accent that emphasises how hard done by they always feel.

BJ happened to pick up on the meme (been dying to use that word) and was in equal parts criticised heavily for it, and patted on the back for saying it out loud. I like him, so am happy to see the world from over his shoulder thanks.

Thanks for the spelling lesson. :D Yes it does include Cameron as it does Ed Milliband and Nick Clegg, the term I used was calculating politician, not tory w@anker. All politicians are calculating (some better than others) and they all use various methods, BJ chooses the one of bumbling BUFFOON.

Meme is a good word :D So you've never actually been here - I take it most of your opinion of Liverpool then is from the media - fair enough - hope your GCSE results were to your liking :D . Also I wouldn't call 96 families being the victim of a 23 year long police cover up 'hard done by' - your lord and master didnt think so either

“It is right for me to make a proper apology to the families of the 96 for all they have suffered over the past 23 years,”

I can't stand the guy but in my estimation today he showed an honour and compassion is sadly lacking from all politicians these days.

IMHO the whiny image has always been separate from the 96. That's always been in doubt, the whole thing from the early days and at last it's been pushed to one side and replaced with an open report and an apology to start with. I hope that goes a lot lot further to drag those at the heart of the cover-up out of their comfy retirements to explain themselves.

No. Whining & whinging with the only accent worse than a bored brummy's has been around for donkey's years. Maybe it is a media invention in the most but like I said, Hatton & his mates & countless strikes etc on the news aren't made-up like The Liver birds was. There's a reason why mud sticks.
