Hi All, can anybody give me any guidance or help.
I have a 2007 fox 36 talas r fitted to my bike. I weigh 70kg and when i try to set the sag at the recommended psi i only get about 5mm sag. when i drop the psi to the lowest psi, 45, i only get about 15mm sag. i ran the bike on this setting and am only getting about half the travel of the fork which is a 160. i just changed the oil in the damper and spring side and it is the same. do you think the damper needs servicing or is the fork knackered.
Cheers for any responses.

Let all the air out. Can you compress the fork fully?0

This. If that doesnt work, take all the oil out too and see if that makes it get full travel.A Flock of Birds

when i let all the air out i can get full travel, i have to compress it a couple of times before it does get full travel, then every time after that. on fox service guide it only starts to recommend air pressure at 45psi, when i put 25psi i get to about 35mm sag, above 25psi then the sag gets smaller0

Check the oil volume is correct. Are you setting sag stood on the bike, rather than sat? (stood is correct).0

the only oil volumes i know, i just stripped the lower legs and put 30ml in damper side and 15ml in spring side. yes i am stood in the attack position when checking the sag. is there an easy way to check if the damper is working correctly if i take the lowers out again. i did push them through there stroke and it felt smooth, but i don't know what i'm looking for.0

That's lube oil, the damper takes far more. You need to try and find a service manual.0

i only done a lower leg service to see if that solved my problem. looking at fox website the damper takes 100ml. is the damper service difficult, it looks like you need special crows feet spanners to torque up certain parts. is the damper likely to be the problem?0

just looking on mojo and tf tuned. service costs about £110 does that include the damper service or just the seals changed and relubed and restickered?0

You'd have to call them, most likely it does.0

is my problem likey to be the damper?
Cheers for your help.0 -
i'll try to service the damper cartridge myself then go from there.by the time i have a service then they say i need new bushes etc it will probably be better for me to get a new fork.0
