I thought it would be a good idea to replace the cables tonight until I realised I couldn't figure out how to remove the cable. I've looked on park tools but it doesn't seem to answer my problem, and no other info I can find online helps.

Any help is much appreciated

so point 4 of the service manual.
how does that not help?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I've no idea what it means  I've tried pushing the cable into the housing while rotating it but it doesn't do anything, so I assume I'm doing something wrong!0

so you have put it in the right gear?
removed the plug?
the push and twist.
pilers help."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It's in the right gear, and the cable tension barrel is removed if that's the same thing? All i'm looking at at the moment is a hole in the shifter with a cable disappearing into it.0

Brilliant Nick, thanks again for your help. Not sure how I missed that but it's sorted now0
