Hi Guys,

I am starting to think about a waterproof winter Jacket I commute about 10 miles a day and ride trails at the weekend.

I have looked at the Madison Trail & Altura Night Vision Evo Can any on recommend anything else I should be Looking at that is not stupidly expensive.

Regards

Martin

  • Endura Gridlock without question. Fantastic value for money. Waterproof, surprisingly breathable, lots of reflective detailing, chest pocket, large pocket on lower rear, excellent zips, underarm zipped vents - what more could anyone possibly need? It`s not very packable but then it is designed as a commuter jacket. Can be had for just over £50 online or negotiate in your lbs for around £45 as I did. There are similar out there (inc Altura Nevis which I have also owned) but none offer such great quality and value for the money. Range of colours too!!

  • if you have a look on dare2b's site ( www.dare2b.com ) at the soft shells, they are more aimed at snow boarding but do make great cycling jackets! lovely in the winter,

I had a Grid lock and found it fine in winter but not breathable enough for warmer weather (autumn, spring). Also not that light. Well made, OK value & durable though.

If you can run to it, I'd highly recommend Gore. I bought one of their Oxford jackets over 10 yrs ago - still going strong. I think that model is no more but their stuff performs brilliantly in my view & cheaper than the very top end stuff like Assos.
