Route towards Holmfirth from the South

Hi, in a couple of weekends time I'm heading up to near Holmfirth from the Midlands. Was thinking of getting my wife to drop me off 15-20 miles short to cycle the last bit. Any suggestions for a good route as I don't know the area at all.
Except that it's much hillier than Northamptonshire!

I'll be on a hybrid bike, prefer minor roads/cycle routes if poss.

Thanks

This route takes you from Ladybower Reservoir to Holmfirth. The right hand side is less hilly! but the distance is right, 25 miles.

  • Thanks random man, looks like a good route.

Have done some more research and looks like doing part of Penine Cycleway/NCN 68 is also an option.
  • Just make sure the final 5/10 miles or your ride encompasses the Holme Moss climb...coming from the south, you'd want to turn off Woodhead Road/A628 I think and up to the summit. A fair climb, but one I've only ever descended since I live on the other side and so climb it from the Holmfirth side. Then for you it's just a nice fast descent into Holmebridge, then Holmfirth.
