front flashing light

I'm after a front light to use to be seen (rather then to see with) . Preferably something quite small. Main use would be be for evening rides when I'm coming home and it's getting dusky. When it gets darker, I'd use it as a second front in flash mode.

I've already got a very bright "to see with" light, it doesn't flash and has a separate battery which needs strapping to the frame. (it's one from dealextreme)

So I'm basically after a small front strobe.
was thinking of the cateye uno? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cateye-hl-el010-uno-led-front-light/

anyone got any other suggestions/recommendations?

thanks in advance

  • I'd recommend the Cateye loop http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cateye-sl-ld110 ... ont-light/

Small and subtle when not turned on gives a good flash mode and the battery lasts a good time.

I have a Lezyne Super Drive front light - and I totally would recommend it - you WILL BE SEEN with this and it is compact and well made to last a long time.

I did a review on my blog if you are interested (but it does cost about £90)

Exposure Flash light, tiny can be used with rechargeable batteries , great lttle light see http://www.wiggle.co.uk/exposure-flash- ... ont-light/
  • Tesco do front and rear flashing led, really small £1.70
Boardman Pro Carbon (Nowt wrong with Boardman)
    Boardman Team Hybrid
    (I need to lose weight)
  • I use a 'moon' light for precisely this purpose. Actually I use it in daylight in flash mode riding around the local lanes after an old dear pulled out in front of me. Small, light and bright, its got flash, strobe and constant, but possibly the best bit is that it charges off a USB. About £25 i think.
  • thanks for the replies I'll check them out!

+1, cheap easy, quick and costs less than a bag of chips. Almost. :)

I use Knogg Frogs for my "be seen" lights, they have a good rapid flash.

Knog Boomer is very good, much better than my Frog, but the Frogs are very cheap so try one

    +1 for Exposure Flash.

If you want something cheaper, the Skully white is very good for the type of light it is. It looks like a novelty, but it's one of the best coin-battery micro lights.
