Big water bottles?

I've just bought a pair of SIS water bottles, 1000ml size, in the hope I can carry a bit more fluid with me on longer rides. However the diameter of the bottles is a smidge larger than normal and don't really fit into my bottle cages (Taxc Tao), its certainly a squeeze.
Any suggestions for a >750ml bottle that will fit in standard bottle cages and doesn't cost a fortune?

I got a 1000ml one from Halfords last week for 8 quid or so...the name escapes me but it is clear plastic with a bit of red writing and a red top. Same width as a standard 500ml bottle you would use for exercise, fits perfectly in my bottle holders which I assume are also a standard size...
this infact:

Not worth looking at an extra bottle holder or two instead? Either behind the saddle (TT style) or under the downtube (touring style).2010 Cannondale CAAD9 Tiagra0

II bought a 900ml bottle in a French Decathalon last week for about 4euro. It's an unsightly thing with a gold top but it fits my frame nicely0

I've got an elite maxi cincio, fits in a normal cage and not too top heavy so it doesn't bounce around too much. I I do use the cuissi cages though which are meant to be good for that. I got it in decathlon but I didn't see them in there last time.0

I have one of these too and it fits in my normal Spesh cage - I am sure it leaks a bit though but maybe I picked a duff one.0 -

The Maxi Cincio I have doesn't have the dome lid, just a normal plastic lid and rubber stopper. Doesn't leak.0

I searched for ages to find a couple of decent 1lt bottles and was surprised to find Halfords had the best solution, the already-mentioned maxi cincio.
I removed the see through dome. It's an excellent bottle, which has a particularly good, chunky screw thread for its top which you can really tighten down without fear of stripping the thread. As with all 1lt bottles (it seems) it holds about 960ml or thereabouts. It's also great to grip when riding, especially if you remove the soft rubber grip as it leaves a ledge which is a great handhold.

oh and Halfords have 20% off...and they're only 7.99 on the web, so I ordered 2 bottles for a total of £12.78. Nice one :-DWyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Ooops, sorry.. just came across these when ordering a couple for myself. Seems very odd that the 1000ml bottles are larger :?Simon0
