Good detective work by those predicting this last week!

    Good for Endura?

Only 8 Endura riders joining up.

The press release makes it sound as if the Endura team are folding and eight of their riders are off to Germany. Not really what I think of as "merging"!
  • From a rider's perspective, I guess its going to depend on whether you're one of the 8 Endura guys being kept. I think they currently have 17 on their roster, out of which JTL>Sky.

However, good from the perspective of British riders and British cycling - another pathway in the form of Pro-Conti...and NetApp did get wildcard to the Giro (admittedly after stumping up 100k, but still...)

I wonder how many of the Brits will join up. The younger ones? The older ones? Will Dempster, Wetterhall or others get a WT ride?
  • Russ Downing will be the interesting one. He might be one of the older ones, but he's got 2 years WT under his belt including the Giro last year, and he's got some wins this year both Europe and UK.

(see he's not best pleased at being left of the long list for the Worlds but not sure he really would have warranted a place vs all the PT guys - JTL making the cut for obvious reasons)

All mergers are actually like that (not just in cycling). It's always one party taking over the other.

Paul Vos, Alexandre Blain, Scott Thwaites, Ian Bibby, Rene Mandri, Erik Rowsell, Zak Dempster and Alex Wetterhall would be my guess at the 8. Can't see Fonzy getting another crack on the continent.
  • Double Fonzy unhappiness then. With Endura's 2012 programme at least he's been able to do a lot of European races as well as the major domestics like Lincoln GP.

He's posted on facebook and twitter about the merger, and he doesn't seem down about it or anything. My guess is he's one of the 8.

They have 4 or 5 riders who could go to WT teams, as neo pros or otherwise, so lots of moving parts.

I suppose those that don't get a slot could be picked up by Roger Hammond's new team (Genesis?).

Isn't that team an U23 devt squad?

I have no idea to be honest

    From Velochrono
Scott Thwaites, Jonny McEvoy, Erick Rowsell et Russell Downing, l’Allemand Paul Voss, l’Australien Zakkary Dempster et l’Espagnol Iker Camano.

Blain is a possible for the final spot....presumably with Wetterall / Bibby

Would be a shame if Bibby has to take a step downwards.
