Old Lights

A friend was clearing his garage and passed me a set of Cygo-Lites. Looks like this model:

Except the battery is NiCad. Not sure of the age but it does charge and I managed a night ride on Tues using them but supplemented by an LED head torch strapped to my helmet. We ride quiet country roads twice a week. Towards the end of an hour they were starting to fade.
I am fairly sure that the lamps are halogen and compared to the brilliant white of LEDs appears slightly yellow.
Is it worth trying to resurrect these lights with a new battery ($69 plus postage from US) or am I better ditching them and investing in some of the Chinese lanterns available on eBay?
