Its a random post I know, probably breaks loads of rules, and putting it in the crudcatcher is probably a kiss of death, but my company (literally my company) is after a new senior developer and tech lead, and so I'm going to go ahead and post it hoping the mods wont delete the thread! I'm not a recruiter or anything like that, its just a job I need to fill here, and if I can help a forumite find it - we both win.

We develop software for horse racing and betting, and we're based in Farnborough, hampshire. I'm hoping that maybe some bikeradar users might be interested in a post I am trying to fill. What I am looking for is someone that wants to work in Ruby and similar technologies, developing web systems and back office apps, and ideally wanting to lead a team of 5 or 6 developers.

I'm posting here for three reasons:

1. I find MTBer's to be quite balanced people in reality (Yeehaa and Gazlar excepted). More so than most. I think having a sport that pushes you a bit helps enormously in making you a more rounded person.
2. I think where we are has alot to offer an MTBer, particularly if you live in London currently and want to get out as I know many do. Within a 10 mile radius of us are some of the best trails and riding spots in the south (Swinley/Tunnel Hill/Ceasars Camp/Minley), and the Surrey Hills aren't too far away either. Its a great place to live and work.
3. I'm secretly trying to build a company full of MTBers so we can all ride at the weekends! I also slip in the odd 20km off road ride on my way to the office. Nice way to start the day.

The job is full time, based at our pretty nice offices in Farnborough. Its a team lead technical role, so suitable for someone with this kind of skill set:

• Ruby, Sinatra & Ruby-on-Rails. JavaScript frameworks: Node.js, Backbone.js, Prototype/Script.aculo.us & JQuery
• HTML / CSS
• Agile / Lean methodologies and practices
• Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Web design & standards
• Version control: Git, CVS & Subversion
• Databases
• Object-oriented analysis, design and implementation skills
• Data modelling, design and analysis: relational, dimensional & information architecture
• Experience of full project lifecycle and roles
• Comfortable with a wide variety of deployment, continuous integration and development tools, methodologies and operating systems

You don't need to fit the above perfectly, but do need to have similar experience, even if its slightly different technologies etc.

You'll be expected to travel to customer sites a bit too... US, South America, all over EU, Australia (the list goes on). You will need to be comfortable with dealing with customers, and I need someone who wants to help productise our offerings, so building apps and software rather than custom sites would be a bonus. Hopefully you'll be used to working on full project lifecycle developments, not just cutting code.

We've got a crap load of work on right now, and its only getting busier so the sooner we get someone on the happier I will be. If you are interested, drop me a PM and well take a look. Pay is competitive and we tend to be fairly generous in keeping pace with the market on that regard. Its not london pay - but were not in London, so no surprises there! Coming direct like this means we save the huge recruitment fees too, so that always helps.

Hopefully someone out there in BR-land will be interested. Let me know.

No idea what the fark the rest of the stuff is (Git and subversion sound interesting) , but I'm willing to work in Ruby as long as she's hot.
    Or at least breathing.
    Maybe still warm?

    Not that I'm desperate.

If its Ruby Wax then I have many years of experience sat in front of my computer downloading the contents of my hard drive on her.

I also made a mean tshirt with a picture of a lime on it and can guarantee I wouldn't spend all my time messing about on the Crudcatcher looking busy but ultimately incapable of doing the job......honest

    I'm a software devloper and I know database's and OOP\OOD....That's 2 off your list....When do I start?

Should mention though that I only work from home and salary negotiations should start at around the 1K a week mark.

I'm happy to travel anywhere world wide as long as it's in the school summer holidays and the Mrs and kids can come with me.

Not too much to ask for I dont think.

I had oral once and got told that. Hurt like hell, the tool was just too big. At least the resin he injected was white, and paid for by the taxpayer.

Lol. The irony is that the only the summer holidays part would be an real issue.
