The headset on my bike is forever coming lose and I'm fed up of adjusting it so am thinking of just replacing it. I currently have a pretty cheapy unknown brand one (uh oh) with an itm compression cup. Could someone recommend a replacement? I'm not sure which are for carbon/regular steerers. Don't want to spend silly money buty want somethingthat's going to hold out.

the material of the steerer is not important but there are so many headsets now it's impossible to say what you need - conventional, integrated, integral, 1 1/4 tapered, 1 1/2 tapered....

if it's for the dolan in your signature, I think it will be 1.1/8 integrated. if you have a carbon steerer fork then don't be shy with the carbon paste when you fit the new one

    Thanks!

I was specifying the material of the steerer as I was under the impression that you needed to make special considerations for carbon - no starnut?

that's right. SFN is ok in alloy but a carbon bung in carbon.

Therefore my initial point is valid? Most headsets come with a starnut...
