Hi I will be buying a Radon team 6 http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1830/a58198/zr-team-6-0.html?mfid=52 as soon as I have sorted the payment verification issue with my bank, failed verification and gave me a number to ring up. First order from germany so might be a fraud security issue. As this will be my first proper bike since a teen I will need all the other bike related gear as well.

Have already ordered an 18 piece x-tools tool kit on offer at CRC http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=40997and a Lezyne pressure drive medium mini pump.

Some of the kit is cheaper at bike-discount than here in the UK so just wondering if there is anything else I should buy at the same time as the bike? My main query though is which shock pump should I buy with a £30ish budget? Tempted by the Giyo GS-01 for £16.40, sounds German so probably well built but unsure if there is anything else I should buy instead? http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k604/suspension-pumps.html?od=2u.

Also had this lock in the basket http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1692/a55703/buegelschloss-8195-schwarz.html for short time security usage (local shop etc). Bike will be stored in the house and won't be used for commuting etc so not looking for fort knox level security.
Was going to buy a cheap computer as well and was thinking of this http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1058/a4980/cyclocomputer-cm4-1.html

Will probably buy some Superstar nano tech pedals (ones on the Radon are supposed to be junk) and also a mini tool, both get good reviews on their site. Will need to buy a lid and gloves as well but will buy them from a LBS so I can check sizing and to buy anything else I forgot to order with the bike. If it's anything like trying to find a motorbike helmet that fits properly it is going to be a nightmare, I have a big head

One last question where can I buy some clear "heli tape" from for protecting cable rub on the frame? Tried searching CRC but can't see for looking.

Thanks

It comes under different names as well but it's the same one.

I'd get a 10-pack of tubes from CRC as well (£25 for 10). I use the phones for riding stats with the Endomondo & Strava apps. Get some form of lights for the winter - even some little flashing LED jobs just in case you get stuck somewhere and end up riding back later than you planned

Supertar Nano Pedals are brilliant, but if you only want black get them from Carbon Cycles/Exotic and save a tenner. They are exactly the same.

I got heli tape from eBay for a couple of quid.

A proper track pump is more useful (for your tyres, obviously) and it is likely to have a better gauge then a mini pump for use at home. I got mine for about £15 or so from Wiggle in one of their sales.
  • Thanks for the advice, just tried to order again with my CC and got the flippin "failed payment secure" message so looks like another call to the bank :x .Had to ring them up earlier about my debit card when I got the same message when trying to pay council tax. Apparently alot of online fraud at the mo so need to answer some security questions.

Nice to know they are checking for fraud but is getting beyond a joke when you have to ring them up everytime you try and make a purchase online.Who would of thought that buying a bike could be so much hassle, 3rd time luck possibly...

Nice tip regarding the lights, will have alook for a half decent cheapy set on CRC if/when I order the bike. Not sure what colour pedals to get but am swaying towards either red or orange. Will wait until I get the bike so I can see if the redyorange decals are actually red or orange. Hard to tell from the pic, the £10 saving might sway me towards the black though so will keep the exotic pedals in mind.

Get yourself a puncture repair kit too. Even if you don't use it when you're out and about, back home it's easy to patch a tube and they'll happily go for ages covered in patches.
  • Third time is a charm, just have to wait for a big box of goodies to arrive now. Think there is a puncture kit in the tool kit I ordered, but will order another one as well.
