Involuntary spotting of people with cycling tan lines

I recently watched an episode of Big Bang theory the other in which Sheldon displayed some tan lines that could be from cycling .. I think it was from the ankle up iirc.

Now, in the same week, I've just sat down to watch the most recent Planet of the Apes movie, and there's a scene with James Franco in the bathroom early in the movie where you can clearly see thigh tan lines that are too sharp to be caused by anything other than cycling shorts!

I guess I'll add this to the list of things is see whether I want to or not, such as bad kerning, or the incorrect use of Comic Sans (ie. almost any use of comic sans) everywhere, and double spaces in body text, that I picked up from working in graphic design.

Have you spotted anyone wearing the honourary marque du cyclisme?
All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

    Go on holiday next week.

Dreading the first days by the pool the tan lines look ridiculous.
  • What is this 'tan' you speak of? All I have is wind-burn

Only the first days? Do they actually disappear? I have them all year long (even in winter!) and I use sunscreen.. I try to balance them out with lots of beach in the summer but it's useless. It's ok though since everyone's used to it.

Don't you sunbathe in a pair of Speedos, arm warmers, leg warmers and nothing else like us normal people then?

I find Mediterranean sun on English skin does seem to help with this. :D
  • The strangest looks I get are when people notice just below my wrists is the distinct line where my gloves go, so my forearms are actually more tanned than my hands. That really throws people! :D

Yep, I look like Al Jolson! I used to prefer it when I had the gap on the back of my mitts to leave a brown oval on the back of my hands. Strangely, despite the lack of summer I seem to have more defined lines than ever before on my arms. Perhaps it's because I've ridden a few long rides on OKish days without sun cream? I haven't got any panda eyes or helmet straps this year though.
  • I actually had to explain the dark bands on my wrists to a guy in work! I prefer LS jerseys most of the time

(as unbelieveable it is that a tan could be achieved in NI)
