Hello All, I have recently refurbished an early 00's full suspension mountain bike and while I think I did a good job my limited knowledge of the groupset history and what have you made the process a little slower than expected - do you know where i might find a groupset history a little like Sheldon Brown's Road Groupset history ? Thanks

I think that one follows only the highest 2 or 3 groups.0

what do you want to know?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I'm just perusing it, a bit of a trip down memory lane - but a lot of the stuff I've owned over the years isn't there.
I can't figure out when the original Hollowtech cranks came to be either, the first mention of "hollowtech" there, is in relation to HTII setups.
Ooh, just found the 2000 XT setup - I had all of that on my bike at the time (and some Yorkshire Swede gave me a good collection of it again not long ago - which was put to use on a bit of a clunker )0 -

Crazy!
(Although, I have a strong suspicion it's just one person, who's setting up a factory manufacturing giant chainrings. Giant in size, obviously, not the bike firm, Giant.)0 -
54t single ring, that really is for heroes! How many frames would that fit these days!?
2002 just doesn't seem that long ago though, that was still a time of disc brakes and bikes that look like the DH bikes of today!0 -
Ah, STX-RC memorys. In my opinion the greatest looking groupset ever. Loved the bronze finish, Shimano should bring the colour back. Had it on my Klein until it was stolen.

The EPO's good bike (Diamondback Topanga) has got STX RC. Pewter and silver. Don't tell her things have moved on, she still loves it and thinks it's highly desirable. Mind you it's like new as it hardly gets ridden.0
