£2000 Full Suspension

So, another 'what bike would you recommend' question.
Got a budget of around £2000 to spend on a full suspension mountain bike. I live in sunny Suffolk so spend a lot of time on forest trails so would like something that can smooth out the whoops for me whilst also being capable of a few trips to the more mountainous parts of the country.
I currently ride a Cube Ltd Pro hardtail which I absolutely love so have been leaning towards a Cube AMS 130 Pro or SL?
Would be very happy to look at alternative brands or hear peoples views on what sort of bike I need.

Probably a bit overkill for what he wants if the OP has been thinking of a 130mm travel, more XC orientated bike. Cracking value though.
Giant Trance? Paulscycles have some decent deals on them if the sizes are right. 5" rear travel, 120mm (125 on some models I think) up front.
Canyon Nerve? XC model with 120mm travel, AM model with 140mm...0 -

Yeah - you wanna get over to the canyon site I'd say."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Try before you buy would be my advice. Therefore Canyon is a no go. If you are confident you know what you want and the Canyons work then go for it.
Cube AMS look good and are decent value, Ghost bikes are good value too but tend to be only through Chain Reaction so no good to try. Some good end of season/model year bargains about.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

Understand some suggestions may be over kill for Suffolk, but do travel to ride a fair bit so am looking for a good bike that is capable of all that is thrown at it.
Not confident to buy without at least throwing a leg over it, so Canyons are a no go.0 -
You could do a lot worse than a trek ex0

Aha. Well depends where ya travelling to. If you're planning on annual trips to N. Wales, Scotland, The Alps, Spain etc Then a bit of big hitter might be in order?"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

I just got a Cube AMS 150 Pro following a few people's advice, definitely impressed! The second choice was going to be the 130, both 2012 models too so you can pick them up with a good discount at the mo (if you can find one).0

At the same time if you're going to be out riding local to you most of the time, say a few times a week and at weekends where it's tamer stuff and such a big bike isn't necessary do you really want to be carrying the extra weight of a big bike around with you just for the sake of a few of times a year when it might make it slightly easier if you do head somewhere bigger.
Unless you're planning on using the bike for uplift days and downhill, or trips to the alps etc. I can't really see there being anything for which a 120-140mm trail bike sort of thing wouldn't be perfectly capable.0 -

^^^ Agree entirely, think that kind of travel would fit the bill.
More suggestions really appreciated, Scott, Cannondale etc?0 -
I used to have a Cube LTD just like you. I also hoon around forest trails of SE England like you and also like you I had around £2k to spend on a full suss.
Canyon XC9 was where I spent mine. This year's are gone now I think but if you can wait the 2013s look very nice.
I looked at the AMS 130 as well but just couldn't resist the Canyon.0 -
I would suggest the Giant Trance. You should be able to get a good end of year deal now. I had a Trance X3 a couple years ago, it was light and comfortable for all day rides but could also take harder riding and was a blast on feisty single track.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
