In the light of a recent developments involving quantity of bikes owned and decals without pictures which in my mind is just not in the spirit of things, please post pictures here of:
- Frankenbikes
- Hacks
- Pics of you or your best steed after you hit a cow pat/cycled through the numerous floods or similar
There is far too much pomp and circumstance and car wax and twinkly bikes on BR, so lets get agricultural. Agri + culture - me likes.

OK, I'll stick my head over the parapet.
This is the frankenbike:
Feel free to laugh at it if you see fit. It's a Kinesis Maxlight frame bought for £10 on Ebay. Nobody else bid because it looked rough with no paint. It came with an XT bottom bracket in it. Front and rear mech's are XT 8 speed that had been on my bike. Bought some new old stock LX V brakes for another £10. Wheels, forks, cranks and handlebars were bits that I already had or were conated by friends. Total cost was less than £70. The most expensive thing was a full set of cables.
It was built for my 13 year old son. I can't afford to get him an expensive bike, this way he gets a bike that rides well and the tatty look might stop it being nicked. He put most of it together with help from me, so it was a nice project for us to do together. The main thing is he loves it. He's now in the process of painting an old steel frame road bike I was given.
I know this is the road section so here's a road bike of sorts. You'll notice I tried (and failed) to follow instructions for photographing a bike. Do I have to paint my garage door?
It's not a BSA contrary to what the cranks say. Basket was in use at the time for carrying beer and a picnic blanket.0 -
Bought this for a tenner - both daughters think it's great

You tight git - do you mean they have to share that thing ? Surely you can find another tenner for another 1 so that you're not fiddling around with saddle/stem heights.
You could also build a side car for it, one could rest whilst the other pedals.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

Finished my son's new bike. Total outlay about £30 including paint.
He's really pleased with it. I just hope I can keep up.0 -

He just makes the tallest daughter ride it bare footed.
Nice stand by the way, pay much for it?Tail end Charlie

Commonly known as the shed. Was given it and it's shockingly bad, but will do until I can get a 'better' hack...http://www.youtube.com/user/Eurobunneh - My Youtube channel.0 -

Oh my god. Mine is 11 and 5'5" with size 10 feet, hands like spades and muscles popping out all over the place - he seems to grow another inch every time I look at him. I wondered what size he'd be by 14 ... looks like he's heading your son's way. About to buy a new bike for hime too, expect itll last a year before its grown out of. Grump grump.
I have a frankenbike too but no pics exist ...0 -
It may be a shed, but it's my shed, it's scratched to bits and I keep thinking I should get a new one that would either go up or down hills quicker. But I can ride it any where and I don't really mind when things break because it teaches me how to fix them. Anyway here it is half way up a mountain:
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0 -
this thing has yet again got pole position of my drop-bar bikes because my lightweight aluminium frame broke, which I find fancy bikes do so well.
It is a 1979 peugeot py11 which I bought for £175 in the mid 90's as a temporary stop-gap when my road bike frame down-tube cracked. I have hammered it ever since and only the frame and forks with the original headset and handlebar are original. I sawed the dropout off and fit the rear mechs on a £1 steel dropout . I have to say there is no finer format for general road use and roughstuff and light touring.
I have thought about abandoning the idea of replacing my scr2 with something similar and getting something like a raleigh clubman instead; but as long as the peugeot works I don't need to. Every year I go to a cycle jumble and stock up with cheap chains and cables etc..Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

I didn't know Linda Hamilton ruined bikes as well?
The older I get, the better I was.0 -
Does this count? Build from a spares bin so no idea on cost but an optimistic single 38t ring on a nine speed setup. Still use it to an from work. It was a Halfords Carrera till the paint stripper went on.

^ Looks better then Stevo's mincer assembled from a quad bike. I think it's slightly better than Hack or FB. It even has colour co-ordination.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
