UST tips or advice

hi there ive just bought a pair of mavic crossmax st ust wheels as wanting to go tubeless, i am planning to buy maxis ardent ust tyres would you advise i run some stans fluid to give me better puncture protection ? also how much do i need per wheel ? thanks in advance for any help or tips

  • yes, grab your self a coupl e of little bottles, they are about £3 each (some ebay stores have them for £3+free post, others £3.50, dont pay more than £4 for a little bottle) and pour one into each wheel through the valve once tyre's seated, you ay find you need more in the rear than the front as it'll get used up a little quicker for obvious reasons,

    if youve access to a compressor thwen seating the tyres is simple, if not then a quick DIY compressor from a 2l coke bottle, 2 valves and a length of plastic tube pumped upto about 80psi will get them on fine!!

  • Im running the same wheels i find about 2 capfulls of stans per tyre is enough to do the trick even managed to seal up a slash from a broken piece of slate once

    Well managed to get my new schwalbe hans dampf 2.35 mounted to my mavic crossmax wheels needed a compressor though but on great actually mounted without fluid and held air fine, but have added stans fluid do give them better puncture protection as tyres not UST. Big thanks to everyone for there help.
