The latter two are easy-peasy to do yourself: I'd get on the internet to find out how. £10 a wheel is more like it for truing, so perhaps worth shopping around.

diy, really, if you can ride a bike you can do these tasks

brakes and tape are a doddle, just read the instructions through until it's all clear, then take it slowly, you'll be fine

at most you'll need a couple of hex keys and some scissors

wheels, if they're exposed nipples, which they almost certainly are, and not too far out then it's quite straightforward, otherwise as ugo says, find a new shop

Wheel Trueing - depends how far out it is ... it could be a reasonably time consuming thing to do... or could take 15 mins ...

Handlebar tape - you'll need to check the price of the tape - sounds like they're charging RRP - and £14 to fit - so £7 a side ... how long will it take - are you happy to do it yourself - or at least have a go ..

Brake alignment - you should be able to do this yourself ...

As with all these things - often the expensive bit is the time (or charged time anyway) to do the job. Therefore the more you can do yourself the cheaper it will become.
  • I can allign the brake myself and I played Hurling for years (Irish Sport) so the bar tape is like fitting grip tape to a hurl, so that should be as easy as peas. Im going to go somwhere else for the truing.

I just thought I would express my rant

  • I had all components transferred from one frame to another, wheels trued and new bar tape fitted - grand total of.....£40.

Find a decent non robbing bike shop
