Planning a ride out to Stage 2 in The Peak, any idea how soon before the expected arrival the road closes to bikes? Most of route I am planning avoids their route, but can't help the last mile or two. The timetable says they will arrive at the climb at 11.30, if we get near there for 10.30 will we be ok?

Other than a few places they operate rolling closures and you should be able to cycle up the roads until shortly before they arrive. The finish areas are generally closed completely and there will be signs locally with the times of the closures so it depends really on whether you are hoping to go to the finish. On climbs you are likely to need to get there early to get a good view in any case.0

An hour before should be plenty. Went to see them through southport a while back and got there about 40 mins before hand. Outriders ride ahead of the race about 10 mins in advance to close the roads. Also there is a small caravan which passes through giving away goodies - I got some plowman craven stuff - so you might some nice bags of haribo. I'm watchinh stage 2 too - it passes literally 30 secs from my house - yahoo. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

Heading over to Leith Hill to chalk up the road for the MDCC massive, Yanto,JTL and Jeremy Hunt. Then over to Guildford to shout them to the finish.
Apparently some non-mdcc rider called Wiggins is there, is he any good?+++++++++++++++++++++

Was Hunt Mid Devon? I used to race against him in 3/J races in the early 90s - thought he was Clevedon RC for some reason!0
