Hi people,
Am looking for a London commuter bike and have been fairly impressed with the Cube 'Cross Race Pro'.

Firstly not really heard of Cube, so whats the general feeling on this company in terms of quality and customer service?

Second, any thoughts on the bike? want to be doing 20 London miles a day in all weather.

While I'm at it Fuji also have a similar bike the 'Cross Pro' so again thoughts on the company and bike?
Thanks

  • I'd be tempted to get something with fitting for mud guards on a year round commuter. And a rack if you need to carry anything.
  • Nothing wrong with Cube as a company. German company getting a reputation for well specced bikes at a decent price. Can't comment on their road bikes and hybrids, but I would imagine it is the same.
I have a Cube MTB - well built, light and good spec.
No reports of issues with the bikes on here.
    2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)
2012 Cube Ltd SL (the hardtail XC 26er)
    2014 Lapierre Zesty TR 329 (the full-sus 29er)
  • I have a Cube Nature (hybridy thing) and a Cube Attempt (racey thing). Neither are the sort of bike you're after, but both are well put together and were both great value for money in my opinion. I've done 2500 miles in all weathers commuting on the Nature and it hasn't missed a beat despite me crashing it twice and riding through road salt and filth. Good spec for the price, well finished, tough and reliable, even looks rather nice (imho). The Attempt is great, full 105 (not just a token derailleur), fast, handles nicely, comfy and a great bike for £750 in the sales, can't complain.
  • Don't know about the Cube, but I've used a Specialized Tricross Sport for a similar length commute for the last 3 years. I'm really happy with it. The slightly more upright position is helpful in traffic, but I've done a few TTs on mine after sticking some Continental Gatorskin Hardshell tyres on it. I also stick nobbly tyres on it from time to time and take it over Ilkley Moor. Most importantly though it can handle the roads around Bradford in February. So, having previously commuted through London it would be a great year-round bike. I'm sure any cross bike would so a similar job.
