Replacing or upgrading cassette

My bike has a Shimano HG50-9 on it. Would I honestly notice any major difference if I upgraded it to an HG80-9 or XT cassette or should I just go for the cheap option and replace my worn cassette for £16 compared to £35 or £42?

The only real benefit is weight reduction, of any part on a bike the cassette is probably the least benefit for most cost, if you do go better though, SLX is probably the one to go for.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I'd go for the XT if you can. It's a hell of a lot lighter and feels like it's general construction is better too. I went from an HG50 I think to an XT cassette (10sp 11-32) which I think is about 250g and the old one feels more like a kilo."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

An 11-32 SLX is lighter than an 11-34 XT.... unless you run 1X I'd take the cheaper and lighter SLX over the XT!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

HG80 SLX 11-32 = 280g
HG50 Deore 11-32 = 352g
CS M770 XT 11-32 = 256g.0 -
Thanks a lot guys! Just ordered myself an SLX cassette. Just need to sort myself a set of sealed cables out now.0
