What tyres after fall in the wet

So after two years of commuting and fitness rides I had my first fall resulting in a broken shoulder.
This was only 3 months after breaking my wrist at football so not the best year for sports...
Anyway, I came off on a steep hill in wet conditions. Currently using a flat bar road bike from decathlon running their own brand 23 x 700 tyres. They have been ok for commuting but have lost confidence in them slightly after the fall (although this may have been partly my own fault as rider).
Question is what do you guys find the best tyres for road bike commuting in the wet? I am not sure how wide a tyre I can fit on the road bike, would this help with grip as there is more contact on the road?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes, wider is better for traction. Also important not to over-inflate in the wet (for the same reason; more rubber in contact with the road). That's not to say you should under-inflate of course, when wet perhaps stick to the lower end of the suggested pressure range for the tyres you have.
Continental GP 4 seasons have a good rep for bring grippy (pricey though). I suspect how you ride in the wet is more important- avoiding metal/painted lines, wide cornering (if safe), not braking on corners, light braking if possible (especially if using the front brake) etc. Concentrating and anticipating is important so you don't have to brake hard.0 -
I find my GP4000S to be pretty good in the wet. Having said that, it's important to alter your technique in greasy conditions as above.- - - - - - - - - -

GP 4 seasons here also no issues - but predominately I corner with care!0

Ok thanks will check them out. What size do you run?0

+1 for Continental Four Seasons - I have the huge 28 section on my Tricross, and got a great deal from Wiggle. Two tyres + two tubes for less than two * the price of a tyre. Can't blame them for that . . .Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

I think that Michelin tyres are generally much better than continental in the wet. I really hated Gator Skins - slippery.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
