Me and the wife are off to Mallorca next said to be will set up for road biking what I want to know is should I be taking my helmet & road shoes (clip ins) or not bother because you don’t need them because a, they don’t use them and expect you to ride in flip flops no hat or b, you hire the sweaty kit they have on offer?
Please any advice?

I was in Mallorca this year (Puerto Pollensa) and hired a bike for the week. They gave me use of a helmet free of charge. They ask you which type of pedals you require when you book, in fact you can pretty much spec the bike as you want. I just opted for flat pedals with toe-clips which were absolutely fine. Nice bike too - Kuoto Korsa Lite. Had it for 5 days Monday to Friday and all in it cost around 100 euros. This is the shop in Pollensa but I believe they will deliver to other resorts in the island.

It is a fantastic place to cycle, there are a few other posts on this in the Tours, routes, organised rides section.Bianchi ImpulsoBMC Teammachine SLR02 01Trek Domane AL3“When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race. “ ~H.G. Wells Edit - "Unless it's a BMX"0 -
I was in puerto Pollensa a couple of years ago, hired a nice titanium van Nicholas Euros from the guys at ProCycle Hire in the town. On their advice I took my own shoes and Look Keo pedals which they fitted. Bike came with a saddle pack with spare tube, multi tool, drinks bottle and bike computer. I borrowed a helmet from the shop, but will definitely take my own when I go back next ŷear as it was a bit scuzzy! hope you enjoy it, the riding is great...Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0

I'm off to Puerto Pollensa in 2 weeks. Bike sorted from Bruce at Procycle. Good choice, good bikes, send him sizing before you go and he fits the bike. I've heard very good things about them and on my experience so far can't argue. They provide helmets, pedals, computers etc if you want them. They also do a daily ride fro the shop apparently..0

I rented a bike for a couple of weeks in Florida recentlly. I took my shoes, helmet and pedals and it worked out great.
If you are going to be doing any serious miles, then you might want to also consider taking your saddle as well.....0 -
