Well tomorrow I take on my first sportive and it's also my first 100miles.
So any seasoned riders out thre with any last minute advice to get me through. That being said I'm feeling good and pretty confident about the distance and hills.

Not a seasoned rider by any stretch, but i'd just say enjoy it first and foremost. What sportive out of interest? I was supposed to be doing the 100mile Marlow Red Kite tomorrow but i've broken me fingers so can't ride for another 2 weeks :evil:0 -
It's the Giant sportive starting down at Goodwood.
Really looking forward to it, but also have. A couple of personal goals I want to achieve too.0 -

I bottled it because of the weather....
Got to the first course split and decided that the rain wasn't going to stop any time soon - so I took the "Demon" route back to the start. I think I just squeaked into the "Gold" timing band, but I was pretty demotivated by the rain.
Got home and it hasn't bloody rained at all here!0 -
I just about managed the full Giant. Though it has broken me significantly, namely a pulled calf muscle that happened around mile 70, so the last 30 I was in agony.
I got home in 8hrs 9min. Which is slower than I wanted, but to be honest I was just glad to complete it.
The weather did start depressing me at a couple of points, but glad I stuck it out.
A couple of days rest then I'll be back out preparing for those hills again.0 -
Didn't do the sportive - but did think of all of them with that drizzle that was coming down ...
Couldn't even see the top of the hill ... blummin low cloud ..
Once it cleared I went for a little ride - did the last bit of the course - up the hill to the top - past the staging area and down the hill again ... guess what - it started raining!!
Oh well ... not far home!0 -

Well done! Congratulations on your first Century, and first Sportive. You were much more committed than me.....
Got the rider times this morning - I missed the gold timing cutoff by 2 minutes :-( I stopped at the top of the aptly named Hill Lane in South Harting (that was a right bastard - looks like the gradient tops out at about 17%) to catch my breath, have a drink and put my waterproof on. That's my excuse anyway.....0 -
